The Millers were up against North Central this Saturday. It was a downpour throughout the whole game which lead to some tough conditions throughout.
However, the JV Gold team bolted out of the gate, scoring in the first minute of the match. Keller Willis scored a gorgeous goal from outside the box, assisted by freshman multi-athlete Carson Mertens. The Millers kept the pressure up, winning the battle of possession and found the back of the net again in the 13′ with a goal from Caden Rice, assisted again by freshman Mertens. Goalkeeper Dugan Webster made a couple key stops in the first half to keep the Millers clean sheet.
The second half started off incredibly well for the Millers again. In the 36′ a well-taken corner from Owen Ott caused a North Central own goal to give the Millers a 3-0 advantage. Throughout the half, the Miller backline held solid with freshman Jake Hall leading them throughout. 9′ into the second half, the JV Gold team found their fourth and final goal from Carson Mertens, assisted by Aidan Howell.
The clean sheet was kept by goalkeepers Dugan Webster and Caedmon Foster. The Millers are now 5-1 on the season and have two matches this upcoming week versus Center Grove and Westfield.
