NHS Has Successful Weekend at Pre-Season Showcase

The Millers capped off a great weekend at their pre-season showcase hosted by Mt. Vernon High School with an overall program record of 7-1-1. The Millers sent 2 upperclassmen split squads, both of which left the showcase undefeated. NHS #1 went 2-0-1 with victories over Mt. Vernon and Sycamore and a thrilling draw with Greenfield Central, where the Millers scored 2 goals in the final 5 minutes to draw level at 3. NHS #2 went 3-0-0 with victories over Terre Haute North Vigo, Oldenburg Academy, and a split squad from North Central, looking dominant in all 3 games. Finally, the NHS JV team, consisting of only incoming freshmen, went 2-1-0. It should be noted that this young team was battling against other area JV programs that included sophomores, juniors and seniors. NHS JV had victories against JV programs from Mt. Vernon and Greenfield Central. The program’s lone defeat came against a strong, physical JV team from Terre Haute North Vigo, even though the NHS JV team had significantly more scoring opportunities than their opponent. Results and statistics from the showcase can be found below.

The success at this showcase has everyone involved with the program excited for the upcoming season. Tryouts are August 5th and 6th with the first matches of the season starting the week of August 19th.
