The 3A #1 Noblesville Millers faced off against 3A #2 Fishers Tigers Tuesday night at Reynolds Tigers Stadium. The game was a highly anticipated matchup between the two HCC rivals. Both teams fought throughout the game, with several potential scoring opportunities for each team. The Millers had several scoring opportunities with four corner kicks and six shots on goal, but were unable to find the back of the net. The Tigers also had several scoring opportunities, with five shots on goal on the night.
The standout play for both teams came from their strong defense. The Miller defensive line of Cole Bramblett, Drew Cochran, Brady Horn, and Andy Stansfield provided integral support to keeper Gabe Ingle, and was able to neutralize several Tiger counterattacks.
The Miller man of the match and winner of the championship belt went to senior Stansfield. After the game a subdued Stansfield shared, “We are disappointed; a tie isn’t what we wanted. But ultimately this tie is going to motivate us to keep getting better and improve as we move ahead.”
The Millers will get an opportunity to put that into practice on Thursday night, when they play another tough opponent, the 2A #1 Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles. The game kicks off at 7pm at Hallmark Orthodontics Stadium.
