The 3A #1 Noblesville Millers took on the 3A #8 North Central Panthers on Saturday. The Millers got right to work with a goal in the 3rd minute from Kyle Goad. It was followed with a second Miller goal in the 15th minute from Palmer Ault on an assist from Andy Stansfield and Brayden Doll. Sammy Holland got his first varsity goal for the Millers in the 29th minute off of an assist from Goad. Landon Huber, who also scored his first varsity goal for the Millers, scored the fourth goal of the first half.
The Millers continued to show the depth of their bench in the second half. Matthew Morris scored a goal in the 42nd minute, Luke Smith had his first varsity goal in the 64th minute on a penalty kick, and Miles Tucker got his first varsity goal in the 78th minute on a nicely struck free kick from just outside the penalty area. Noel Peña also made his first appearance in goal for varsity and had a clean sheet during his time on the field.
The Panthers scored their lone goal of the game in the 54th minute. The final score was 7-1 in favor of the Millers.
Huber won man of the match and the championship belt for his play in Saturday’s game. After the game Huber said, “Today was a great game. It really showed the depth of our bench. Everyone got to play and get some experience. Everyone really stepped up.”
The Millers face HCC rival 3A #2 Fishers on Tuesday at Fishers. They return home on Thursday for a game against 2A #1 Guerin Catholic.
