JV Black Pushes Record to 4-0 With Victory Over Avon

The Millers were down on the southwest side of Indianapolis today up against Avon.

 

They could not have started the game off quicker. In the first minute of the match, freshman Carsten Shidler took a shot and put it in the goal. The Millers kept up the pressure throughout the entire first half, missing chance after chance. Avon fought back and earned a goal off of a Noblesville own goal.

 

The team responded quickly after that goal. Sophomore Keller Willis scored on a corner from Brady Frayer. Two minutes after the go-ahead goal, Frayer scored himself. This took the Millers into halftime leading 3-1.

 

The second half was filled with a little less action on both sides of the ball. The Millers scored their fourth and final goal off of a gorgeous assist from Jake Lysiuk. Carson Mertens scored the goal.

 

The Millers play Brebeuf on Thursday for their annual ‘pink-out’ game to support the Megan S. Ott foundation.

Boys Junior Varsity Black Soccer beats Plainfield 3 – 0

The Millers were up against Plainfield today for their third game of the season.

Quickly into the game, Freshman Brady Frayer scored a goal after continued pressure from Noblesville. This pressure continued in the first half, with the Millers getting a plethora of chances. However, Plainfield held the Millers to a 1-0 scoreline throughout.

The second half was more of the same. The Millers had a lot of looks at goal, but couldn’t find the back of the net. That changed with about ten minutes left in the match, when freshman Quinn Johnston and Vince Cash each scored within five minutes of each other.

The Miller midfield and backline were held together today by sophomore Keller Willis and Blake Horn. Both goalkeepers, Dugan Webster and Cooper Miller helped keep the shutout for their third win of the season.

The team is at Avon on Tuesday for a match on the south side of Indianapolis.

Boys Junior Varsity Black Soccer beats Carmel 3 – 1

The Millers were up against rival Carmel tonight in their second game of the season.

Your JV Black team had the vast majority of the chances in the first half but put them over the goalie and the net. The Miller defense, led by Blake Horn, kept Carmel’s opportunities to a minimum in the first half of play.

The second half had the Millers pushing their advantage to the maximum. The Millers first goal came off of a beautiful assist from both Brady Frayer and Keller Willis. Seven minutes afterwards, freshman Quinn Johnston intercepted the ball in the offensive third and took a long range shot that found the upper corner of the Carmel goal to give the Millers a 2-0 advantage.

The Millers pressed on and freshman Vince Cash scored over top of the Carmel goalie to up their advantage to 3-0. With about three minutes to play, the Millers gave up a goal which shortened their lead to 3-1.

JV Black have now started off the season 2-0 with another game this Saturday versus Plainfield.

Boys Junior Varsity Black Soccer beats Perry Meridian 2 – 0

The Millers had their first home game of the season tonight versus Perry Meridian. 

The team started off on the offensive early in the match hitting the post only a few minutes in from freshman Brady Frayer. While the Millers pressed their advantage, they found the back of the net with a strike from sophomore Korey Klimek. Throughout the half, the Millers kept their advantage with a high amount of possession and good chances throughout.

The second half brought more of the same for the Millers. Soon into the second half, sophomore Keller Willis intercepted a ball off of a goal kick and put it in the back of the net to give the Millers a 2-0 lead. This lead proved to be enough and led them to their first win of the season.

The Millers have a tough test this Thursday versus Carmel at home.
