NHS Boys Soccer Stays Loose With Their Second-Year Sponsor, Shine Yoga Wellness
For a second consecutive year, Tara Bushong of Shine Yoga Wellness in Noblesville has been a wonderful sponsor of the NHS Boys Soccer program. With her help, the athletes have been able to maintain high levels of physical fitness and flexibility. At first, Coach Dollaske was skeptical when the idea of providing yoga for the program was brought up. Taking time out of a training session for yoga seemed so “new-age”. Coach Dollaske didn’t think the boys would respond well to it so the idea was almost dismissed. Luckily for everyone involved, the yoga sessions began and they have paid dividends on the field. The athletes’ flexibility and strength have definitely increased and the amount of injuries have decreased over this two-year span. This can be attributed to Tara’s high level of enthusiasm that really connects with the boys (as witnessed in the video below). The weekly Wednesday sessions are something the boys look forward to. Even goalie coach Jake Hart looks forward to them and has been known to provide glowing reviews of the sessions.
If you are looking for a yoga studio in the Noblesville area, Shine Yoga Wellness is the place for you. Stop in for a session and tell Tara that Coach Dollaske sent you. #WAT
Carmel, Noblesville Boys Play to a Draw
POSTED BY: RICHIE HALL AUGUST 23, 2019 from the Hamilton County Reporter
Due to earlier games getting rained out, the Carmel and Noblesville boys soccer teams wound up playing their season openers on Thursday – against each other.
The Class 3A No. 7 Greyhounds hosted the 3A No. 12 Millers at Brian Murray Stadium in front of a big crowd, and the game ended in a 1-1 tie. Carmel scored its goal in the first half, with Drew Finkam finding the back of the net off an assist by Jackson Monsey.
“It was a good game,” said Greyhounds coach Shane Schmidt. “I thought that we had a lot of positives for it being our first game and their first game as well. It’s always a heartbreaker either way. It’s exciting when you score that goal late on, and it’s a heartbreaker when you get scored on late on for a tie. But I thought our guys played well.”
Noblesville got the tying goal with 2:56 left in the second half when Jack Miller mad a long free kick.
“At the end, I think they had some resolve,” said Millers coach Ken Dollaske. “Considering that this was our first game of the season, this was Carmel, everybody was hyped up, everybody was just playing very tight. I think that was pretty evident in the first half that we just did not play the way that the Millers could play. Second half, after we had a chat at halftime, I think they came out with a little bit more composure. It definitely showed the last five, 10 minutes of the game. We were definitely pressing to get that tying goal.”
The junior varsity game also ended in a 1-1 tie.
NHS Varsity Soccer Preview: High Expectations For The Upcoming Season
Boys Soccer: Millers Have High Expectations
POSTED BY: RICHIE HALL AUGUST 14, 2019 in the Hamilton County Reporter
After a strong finish to its 2018 season, the Noblesville boys soccer team is ready to pick up where it left off.
The Millers caught fire during the latter part of last season, at one point winning seven straight games. Noblesville then battled eventual sectional champion Hamilton Southeastern in the first round of the sectional, pushing the Royals to penalty kicks before dropping the game, and finishing the season 11-6-1. As a result, Millers coach Ken Dollaske said his team has “very high expectations” for this year.
“Our squad is very excited for the upcoming season,” said the coach.
Noblesville has nine players returning from last season, plus another one rejoining the team: Senior Harrison Christman is back after playing two years at the development academy with the Indiana Fire Junior team. Dollaske said Christman “should provide even more fire power up top.”
“We have a core group of returning players along with some fresh, young talent to fill the void left by some graduates,” said Dollaske.
The list of players to watch includes three seniors: Midfielders Gabe Imes and Jack Miller, and goalkeeper Adam Carter. Imes was an All State Honorable Mention last year and was named to the District 2 First Team. Carter made the Second Team, and Miller was a Top Team Player.
Also back are two sophomores, Palmer Ault and Spencer Holland, who were the Millers’ leading goal scorers last season. Palmer was named to the District 2 Second Team.
Noblesville opens its season Tuesday by hosting Greenfield-Central, then will play at Carmel next Thursday (Aug. 22). “Our schedule is one of the toughest in the state and we are looking forward to the challenge,” said Dollaske.

NHS Has Successful Weekend at Pre-Season Showcase
The Millers capped off a great weekend at their pre-season showcase hosted by Mt. Vernon High School with an overall program record of 7-1-1. The Millers sent 2 upperclassmen split squads, both of which left the showcase undefeated. NHS #1 went 2-0-1 with victories over Mt. Vernon and Sycamore and a thrilling draw with Greenfield Central, where the Millers scored 2 goals in the final 5 minutes to draw level at 3. NHS #2 went 3-0-0 with victories over Terre Haute North Vigo, Oldenburg Academy, and a split squad from North Central, looking dominant in all 3 games. Finally, the NHS JV team, consisting of only incoming freshmen, went 2-1-0. It should be noted that this young team was battling against other area JV programs that included sophomores, juniors and seniors. NHS JV had victories against JV programs from Mt. Vernon and Greenfield Central. The program’s lone defeat came against a strong, physical JV team from Terre Haute North Vigo, even though the NHS JV team had significantly more scoring opportunities than their opponent. Results and statistics from the showcase can be found below.
The success at this showcase has everyone involved with the program excited for the upcoming season. Tryouts are August 5th and 6th with the first matches of the season starting the week of August 19th.

Gabe Imes WINS IndyStar Play of the Year 2019
On Sunday, May 6th, the people of Indiana were heard loud and clear. The IndyStar Play of the Year was put to a live text vote. Receiving roughly 90% of the vote, Gabe Imes won in a landslide for his spectacular free kick taken against Carmel back in August of 2018. Gabe was very humble and modest in accepting the award. He thanked everyone that voted for him as well as his teammates who helped him along the way.
Gabe Imes Nominated for Play of the Year by IndyStar
Gabe Imes hit a curler free-kick against Carmel last August. It went viral thanks to the NHS Student Section twitter account. It became the stuff of legend. And now, he has been nominated for the Play of the Year by IndyStar. This upcoming Sunday, there will be an awards banquet held at Clowes Hall on the campus of Butler University. A red carpet event starts at 6PM with the awards show to follow at 7PM. During the show, a live text message vote will determine the play of the year. Gabe faces stiff competition. A crazy football catch taken to the house. A basketball buzzer beater. But as the video below shows, there is a reason his kick has become the stuff of legend. Make sure #millernation shows out and votes as many times as possible to make Gabe’s free kick the play of the year!
